faq

where do you manufacture?

We work directly with women-run and owned manufacturers based in Asia. Why not the USA? We have worked with manufacturers in 7 different countries including the United States. What we have found is that manufacturing at home is less sustainable. Raw materials are still processed in Asia and factories in the US are not equipped with machines for activewear and swim. Since our sustainable fabrics are made in Asia, it’s currently more sustainable to manufacture our products near where the fabrics are being made rather than mail all materials back and forth. We implement a strict policy for ethical and fair labor. Our factory is SA8000 certified.

how are fabrics made?

The yarn is made from raw PET chips made during the purification process. Our knitting process is unique and does not compromise on anything. The process is time consuming and each machine can only produce about 100 set worthy fabrics within a 24 hour period. Aka slow fashion.

how does recycled elastic become a high-quality breathable fabric?

The majority of activewear and swimwear products purchased online are already created with plastic. Thanks to the ease of plastic recycling, we have chosen fabrics that can be made from waste found in the ocean like fishnet and plastic bottles. That is why our goal is to popularize sustainable fabrics and their use, starting with all of our products, which help eliminate waste in our oceans.

what’s a SA8000 certification?

SA 8000 is an international certification standard that encourages organizations to develop, maintain and apply socially acceptable practices in the workplace. Partnering with SGS to achieve SA 8000 certification leads to better performing processes, increasing skilful talent, consistent and compliant supply chains and more sustainable customer relationships, delivering economic vitality to both partners.
